For everyday postural strain — no diagnosed injury, just years at a desk catching up with you. If your back aches from sitting rather than from a specific injury, and you want consistent, preventive support, this is built for that.
Online 1:1 sessions using mat-based and equipment-free work, focused on postural realignment and functional core control — fitting around a desk-bound routine rather than adding another commute to it. Spinal adjustments can also be worked in on the Mat, drawing on Scolio-Pilates® methodology. Most people start here, moving into Studio Rehabilitation if deeper, hands-on work is needed.
Your initial session includes a 10-minute personal postural assessment (with video) to review your areas of imbalance to work on.
For injury recovery and chronic pain that need hands-on, in-studio work. If you're recovering from a specific injury, living with a diagnosed condition, or pain that's severe enough to need close, physical guidance, this is the starting point.
In-person sessions at COMO Shambhala Estate use the full Pilates Studio apparatus — Reformer, Cadillac, Barrel, and Chair — grounded in biomechanics, functional anatomy, and Polestar Comprehensive Pilates methodology. Gyrotonic® is often introduced once foundational strength and control are established.
When your spine feels stiff, your hips feel locked, or everyday movement has started to feel effortful instead of fluid — that's rarely just "getting older." Gyrotonic® sessions on the Pulley Tower work the spine and hip joints through their full natural range of motion. Trained under Master Trainer Anke Hauerstein in Berlin, and applied with the same clinical attention as your Pilates programming.
Often introduced once foundational strength and control are in place, as the next step in restoring full, pain-free range of motion.
When sleep becomes unreliable and your body stays braced even when nothing is wrong, that's rarely a discipline problem — it's a nervous system stuck in a state of alert, unable to fully stand down.
Pranayama, or 'Yogic Breathwork', works directly with that underlying bracing, grounded in a decade of teaching movement in high-stress, high-demand environments, with practical techniques you can apply immediately. Woven into every Pilates session as standard, with dedicated breathwork available as a natural next step for those who want to go deeper.
Yes — when it's programmed around your specific history rather than a generic class. Sessions are grounded in Polestar Comprehensive Pilates methodology and 10 years of hands-on teaching across disc injuries and chronic pain, using the full Pilates Studio apparatus to build strength without aggravating what's already sensitive. The goal is progress your nervous system can actually absorb, not working through pain.
Pilates strengthens and stabilises through controlled, linear movement on the Reformer, Cadillac, Barrel and Chair. Gyrotonic® works the spine and joints through circular, three-dimensional patterns on the Pulley Tower — closer to swimming or Tai-Chi — restoring range of motion rather than building raw strength. Most people start with Pilates to build foundational control, then add Gyrotonic® once that base is in place.
You don't need to stop training hard — you need training that adapts to what your body can genuinely absorb that day. Joint stability, recovery time, and energy all shift with age, for men and women alike, so sessions should flex around that rather than follow a fixed programme regardless of how you're feeling.
I teach both in Bali as the resident Pilates & Movement Specialist at COMO Shambhala Estate, about 30 minutes north of Ubud, with a full Balanced Body® studio on-site. In-person sessions run at the Estate, and I also teach 1:1 online over Zoom for anyone elsewhere on the island or travelling.
Poor sleep and chronic stress usually mean your nervous system is stuck "on," even when nothing's actively wrong. Breathwork — pranayama, TRE and Vipassana-informed techniques — works directly with that bracing rather than trying to think your way out of it, helping the body physically downregulate. It's woven into every session as standard, with dedicated breathwork available for anyone who wants to go deeper.
